Autumn Greetings
The year started peacefully with a holiday atmosphere on our deck, where guests enjoyed an al fresco breakfast with views of our beautiful lake.
In February we once again hosted guests participating in the historic RMB Buffalo Regatta held on the waters of South Africa's only river port.
Quarry Lake Inn is conveniently close to the venue and provides excellent accommodation suitable for both parents and children.

Since opening our doors in July 1997, Quarry Lake Inn has been welcoming guests for 25 years! We celebrate this important milestone and share the memories going back :
Looking at the changes that have occurred at the Quarry, we are reminded of the wasteland that once existed here. When the Inn was first built, in 1997, the old municipal Quarry was filled with underground water, but the lake surrounds were a wilderness.
This all changed when the developers of the Quarry Estate, decided to lay out housing and business properties in an organized and environmentally friendly manner.
Its our 25 Year anniversary!
This month we celebrate our 25th anniversary, having opened our doors to our first guests in July 1997!
Back in the 1890s, the old Municipal Quarry was excavated for stone for the ballast of East London’s tramways. When the Quarry closed in the 1950s, it then filled up with clean underground water to become a lake.
Fish were introduced, while geese, kingfishers, and a host of other birds made their homes here, and the lake became a little nature reserve within the city.

We are happy to share the great news that Quarry Lake Inn has largely returned to busy pre-Covid times!
For this, we are extremely grateful, and we are overjoyed to welcome new and returning guests.
We are also very thrilled to have a small and steady trickle of international guests.
